Learning Analytics is one of the top 3 strategic focuses for most Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) right now, and in fact Gartner predicts by 2018 30% of HEI’s globally will have a Learning Analytics strategy to improve the outcomes of their students.

Coventry University, last year awarded University of the Year by Times Higher Education Awards, is one such University, whom are investing in Student Attendance Tracking System (SATS), part of Solutionpath’s StREAM service which will enable them to enhance the pastoral support they offer their students and give their students, tutors and administrative staff a more complete picture of attendance and engagement.

Investing in Student Attendance Tracking System (SATS) will enable them to enhance the pastoral support they offer their students and give their students and tutors a more complete picture of attendance and engagement.

UKVI Compliance without the administrative burden

To ensure legislative compliance and to help learners progress and attain, student attendance must be monitored, it’s a fact that an engaged student performs better, however attendance monitoring and associated reporting can be an administrative burden for those Universities like Coventry which have a large proportion of overseas students. With SATS attendance monitoring doesn’t have to be an administrative burden.

SATS will reduce the burden associated with providing UKVI with attendance reports for its overseas students and at the same time use the same system to monitor attendance for UK students.

Solutionpath beat off competition from other leading attendance monitoring providers, including those already supplying into the education sector, to fulfil a 3 year contract (minimum). The service, which will go-live in September, will replace the University’s manual processes associated with monitoring and will provide both tutors and students a Dashboard that will allow them to monitor, record and analyse individual attendance. There is no doubt that the new service will reduce the burden associated with providing UKVI with attendance reports for its overseas students and at the same time use the same system to monitor attendance for UK students.

Progression through engagement

SATS allows Coventry University to meet their immediate requirements that they have around compliance, however as it is part of a fully integrated suite of products also covering risk and retention and attainment and progression, the University can continue to pursue discussions about progression and attainment through engagement.
