HPE has been recognised as a Leader in the 2026 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Infrastructure Platform Consumption Services for the second consecutive year.
For organisations reviewing how they manage and invest in IT, this is welcome recognition. HPE GreenLake continues to develop its approach to bringing infrastructure, management and consumption services together, helping customers operate across increasingly complex environments. But what does that mean for IT teams managing complex infrastructure, maintaining service availability and planning for future demand?
At DTP, that’s where the conversation starts.
Organisations have built their IT environment over many years. Some applications run on site, others in the public cloud, and different teams may use different tools to manage them. Each decision may have made sense at the time, but the combined result can become difficult to oversee.
For IT teams, that complexity takes time. Understanding capacity, investigating performance issues and applying consistent policies can involve moving between systems and piecing together information.
HPE GreenLake’s development as a hybrid cloud operating platform aims to make that work easier. A more consistent approach to managing infrastructure can give teams clearer visibility and help them automate routine tasks.
The benefit is practical: less time spent working through separate systems and more resources available to improve the services that end users rely on.
Capacity planning is rarely straightforward. Buying too much infrastructure can leave valuable budget tied up in resources that sit unused. Buying too little can negatively affect performance. A consumption-based approach can help organisations bring infrastructure spending closer to their actual requirements, with greater visibility into usage and room to accommodate changing demand.
That doesn’t mean every workload automatically becomes cheaper. The business case still needs to account for demand, service requirements, contractual commitments and the cost of managing the environment.
For DTP, helping customers understand those details is essential. A useful outcome might be avoiding unnecessary overprovisioning, planning expenditure with greater confidence or creating capacity for a new service without committing to a large purchase upfront. The right measure of success is whether the investment improves the organisation’s position.
Decisions about where to run a workload involve several competing priorities. Cost matters, but so does performance, security, resilience and control over data.
Some applications suit public cloud. Others have requirements that make an on-prem or private cloud environment more appropriate. Those requirements can also change over time.
HPE GreenLake gives organisations another way to access a cloud operating experience while retaining infrastructure in locations that meet their needs. The value is having options, being able to assess each workload on its requirements and make decisions that support the organisation’s wider goals.
This is particularly relevant when teams need to modernise services while maintaining control over sensitive information or meeting specific operational requirements.
AI is adding another layer to infrastructure planning. Organisations want to explore its potential, while IT teams need to understand the implications for capacity, governance and cost. A clearer view of the existing estate provides a better starting point. Knowing what resources are available, where workloads sit and how services perform helps teams assess new requirements with greater confidence. Automation can also help reduce some of the routine work that competes for their attention. The opportunity is to give skilled people more time to focus on improvements, rather than continually adding to their workload.
Gartner’s perception provides a useful reference point for organisations considering their infrastructure options. The next step is understanding how those capabilities apply to their own environment.
At DTP, we help customers connect those decisions to clear priorities: improving service reliability, managing costs, reducing operational pressure and supporting future growth.
That starts with understanding what is working, where the friction sits and what needs to change. From there, we can assess where HPE GreenLake fits and what a successful investment should deliver.
