In recent weeks, Hewlett Packard Enterprise has announced the launch of their ProLiant Gen11 servers, which are available to order worldwide today. The new range is engineered to manage the increasingly demanding workloads of modern organisations, presenting huge accelerations in performance, alongside enhanced security, extensive customer support, and access to a cutting-edge cloud-based management console.
The new servers are the first significant update to the ProLiant range in 5 years. The 2017 launch of the ProLiant Gen10 servers focused on delivering robust security. Innovations such as the silicon root of trust helped HPE guarantee customers the “world’s most secure industry standard servers”.
Though since 2017, the workloads of modern organisations and demands on the datacentre have evolved considerably. Data fuelled digital transformation has become mainstream and the extent of data generated in the edge of networks has exploded.
In addition, an influx of organisations have begun shifting their workloads from the public cloud to hybrid models. This shift to a blend of both on-premise and cloud-storage presents its own complexities around infrastructure management. The latest generation of ProLiant servers sets out to provide solutions to these developments and enables customers to easily adopt a hybrid approach.
For the first time, the Gen11 servers are bundled with a license for the HPE GreenLake for Compute Ops Management console. This cutting-edge management software provides unified access, monitoring and management for servers no matter their environment, overcoming the complexities of managing the hybrid cloud, delivering control from the edge to the data centre to the cloud.
The console provides IT teams with global visibility, insights, and automation capabilities. Users can onboard thousands of devices and benefit from rapid firmware updates. For organisations that have Legacy infrastructure, these processes are often manual and time consuming. HPE GreenLake streamlines these processes, freeing up IT teams to focus on tasks that generate business value.
HPE GreenLake can also help organisation’s improve their carbon footprint. The console provides carbon footprint emissions metrics, enabling users to monitor energy usage across their entire compute environment.
The requirements for artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud-native applications, data-intensive analytics, and graphic-intensive applications are becoming more common for modern organisations. The latest generation of ProLiant servers are optimised for these intensive workloads, allowing organisations to futureproof their operations and guarantee agility.
In comparison to the Gen10 servers, the new generation supports twice as much Input/Output bandwidth, 50% more cores per CPU and 33% more high-performance Graphic Processing Unit density per server. These high-performance enhancements mean the servers are capable to support any kind of intensive workload.
HPE continues to lead the industry in terms of infrastructure security, with the latest generation building on the robust foundations of the 2017 release. The HPE silicon root of trust is an industry exclusive security innovation that protects millions of lines of firmware code, defending from malware and the growing threat of ransomware.
Gen11 also includes a new version of HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO). iLO6 is a remote server management software that enables customers to securely configure, monitor and update HPE servers seamlessly. With iLO, IT teams can efficiently manage entire server environments from anywhere in the world, resolving issues quickly to prevent operational downtime.
Organisations that handle sensitive data are provided further assurances through the HPE trusted supply chain. HPE delivers a first line of defence through certified servers that are built to the “worlds toughest security standards” in secured facilities. This ensures end-to-end protection from the manufacturing process through to the end-user.
HPE Pointnext Services provides HPE ProLiant Gen11 customers access to an award-winning team of over 15,000 experts. Customers have access to an enhanced HPE support centre and HPE experts on demand. When data-sensitivity is paramount, HPE Pointnext Complete Care Secure Locations offer support to customers whose electronic and verbal communications are subject to security measures. The customer support for the latest release is now also extended from 3-5 years to a lengthy 7 years.
Both the HPE ProLiant RL300 Gen11 servers using Ampere processors, and the Gen11 servers featuring 4th Generation AMD EPYC™ processors are available to order in the UK now through DTP Group.
