HPE Discover 2020 hit our screens last week, delivered as a virtual event for the first time in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. The event focused on addressing today’s challenges whilst transforming for tomorrow, and featured a line-up of familiar faces from the world of sport and business; all with unique stories on their efforts to gain that extra edge in their specialist areas.
In line with their bold statement made in 2019 to be able to offer “Everything as a service” by 2022, HPE announced further enhancements to the HPE GreenLake Portfolio; designed to offer customers new levels of speed and agility to drive innovation.
HPE GreenLake Central, the gateway software to HPE’s as a service portfolio, allows users to get up-to-date information on their costs, capacity, or status of HPE GreenLake cloud services, as well as run, manage and optimise the entire hybrid IT estate. HPE announced enhancements to its service catalogue, offering customers self-service point and click access to HPE GreenLake Cloud Services seeing rapid access to pre-configured building block solutions to drive container and machine learning adoption.
HPE also unveiled HPE Ezmeral, a software portfolio at the forefront of powering these new services, following the acquisitions of MapR and Bluedata which has been instrumental in helping cement HPE’s AI and ML market position. These services add intelligence to complex data challenges, process data at a rapid rate and automate decisions that align to operations or a mechanism to drive digital transformation.
HPE GreenLake also sees enhancements to its data protection offerings, making data backup and recovery effortless and automated for every SLA – from rapid recovery to long-term retention. We see the ability to traverse between on-premises installations and HPE cloud volumes resulting in absolute flexibility to recover to and from the cloud, without the shackles of egress charges.
With all software services easily accessible via the test drive feature, services across all platforms visible in the compliance and consumption cost/capacity management modules, the boundaries between the public and private cloud have well and truly dissolved with HPE GreenLake.
